Aruba Bank Adds Chip-Based Debit Card Issuing Functionality
September 24, 2015

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas, USA, Sept. 24, 2015Euronet Software Solutions, a division of leading electronic payments provider Euronet Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ:EEFT), today announced that Aruba Bank, the largest commercial bank in Aruba, has completed its implementation of Euronet’s EMV chip card acquiring solution, providing EMV acceptance functionality at the bank’s ATMs and POS (point-of-sale) devices. This follows the implementation of EMV debit card issuing functionality by the bank. With fully implemented EMV issuing and acquiring, Aruba Bank is now in a position to usher in a host of progressive product offerings such as prepaid, contactless and instant issue chip-based cards.

The addition of EMV issuing and acquiring is in keeping with Aruba Bank’s continued commitment to deliver progressive banking services while ensuring that all electronic delivery channels provide a positive customer experience. With a large presence of international customers in Aruba, the ability to support chip cards is an important distinction, since many of these customers travel to countries where cards are required to have the EMV chip. Unlike traditional magnetic stripe cards, EMV chip cards store account information in a secure chip, making it virtually impossible to create counterfeit chip cards, thereby greatly reducing card fraud risk for customers and the bank.

“Aruba Bank believes that building a reputation of reliability is about more than assuring that all of the Bank’s electronic services are operational and available. It is about embracing the latest technology developments in a way that meets customers’ expectations and provides for their security,” said Cindy Ashcraft, Vice President of Euronet Worldwide and Managing Director for Euronet Software Solutions. “Euronet supports that belief, and we are honored that Aruba Bank has chosen our EMV solution to facilitate the delivery of a variety of chip-based products for its customer base.”
